PRWeek: The Green Issue

At the Target Green Conference, PRWeek distributed the October 1 issue of their magazine, the All About the Green Issue. Editor Julia Hood hailed the issue as the first issue completely devoted to green public relations.

The issue includes numerous articles, of which I will highlight a few here, but you should really read them all.

First was coverage of GolinHarris' launch of a green unit. It's the latest of many public relations firms that are launching green practices within their agencies. Fleishman-Hillard did the same a few weeks prior. Joel Makower called it The Greening of PR in a CNNMoney.com column last week. There was also an article in the PRWeek issue on how greening PR agencies can help their bottom line.

Another interesting article detailed the environmental stewardship of Enterprise Rent-A-Car (which I've blogged about before). According to their VP of PR, the reason they focused on the area of stewardship was a responsibility they felt as they became one of, if not the, top company in their industry.

There's a lot more in the issue that's worth the read and it's a continuation of the publication's efforts to lead in this area. If only their RSS feeds included a green feed...
